This nationally recognised qualification will prepare you to work with children between the ages of birth to seven years within a range of Early Years settings and is delivered by highly experienced Early Years and Childcare professionals.
You will have the opportunity to attend a variety of compulsory work placements.
Who is this course for?
This qualification is suitable for anyone aged 16 years and above who is caring, patient and compassionate and who wishes to work with children in Early Years settings such as day nurseries, primary schools, playgroups and crèches.

Course Content
You will study a range of units related to working with children in Early Years settings within the following themes:
- Introducing the Role of the Early Years Practitioner
- Legislation, Frameworks and Professional Practice
- Play, Development and Learning for School
- Professional Development
Assessment Type
It will be assessed by your tutor or assessor using a range of methods. This could include:
- Written Assignments
- Presentations
- Direct Observations
- Reflective Accounts
- Witness Statements
- Portfolio
Progression Opportunities
During your studies your personal tutor will support you on your progression journey and guide you on a route into employment and to further courses of study.
On successful completion of this course you may be able to progress onto a Level 3 course such as Cache Level 3 Diploma in Early Years Education and Care (Early Years Educator), Cache Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools.

You will:
- Entry 3 or above achieved at initial assessment in English, maths and ICT.
- Study maths, ICT and English Functional skills as part of this study programme based on pre-qualifications (Unless you have a Level 4 or above GCSE).
- Commitment to undertake compulsory work placement for 1 day per week within school and nursery settings.
- Need a DBS clearance.
